Is the inside passage of SE Alaska now considered a near coastal route? I have seen a few threads where people state that the new changes allow it to count that way, but my search of the CFR’s and the internet has not turned up anything new. Everything states that the waters from puget sound to cape spencer are considered inland. This leads me to believe that these materials have yet to be updated, or the rumor that the inside can be credited as near coastal is just that, a rumor. My area of operation is primarily Ketchikan and the surrounding waters. I’ll be upgrading soon, and I want to have all my ducks in a row on my paperwork to make the process as smooth as possible. Can anyone point me to a document officially stating the route has changed?
