How robust are various systems to the introduction of less skilled people?

This Twitter thread doesn’t seem entirely serious but it could be a useful way to think about familiarization, crew change and so forth. Particularly for new crew not accustomed to the trade or working aboard specialized vessels with limited time for turn-over.

How robust are various systems to the introduction of less skilled people?

From here:

Another way to put the question is how quickly can a new crew member be converted from a liability to an asset?

There’s two different methods operating when new crew joins, one is the formal; familiarization, training etc. The other is informal, from conversations with other crew members and whatever useful manuals, documents and so forth can be easily accessed.

The bigger the turnover at crew change the less effective the informal methods become.
