I’ve never been hit on a commercial ship but I had one hit me while racing a 19’ sailboat. Extremely violent! It twisted our mast, snapped the fore and one side stay and the mast came crashing down while we were using body weight to try to keep us upright. Not a fun day and I’ve still got a scar from 18 stitches on my shin as a reminder . ---

Had one come ashore near our place, ripped the roof off a house.
