I have an interview with them next week, like you I am going there straight after my hitch and don’t have interview garb but I hope my Fat Resume makes up for it.

Is that a new design? Looks like a re-fit, stretch job.

It’s a Halter design, the stretched boats are Halters as well. The bridge has been changed up and a guess the galley was as well, but that’s about all I know. It seems the STX boats are getting all the attention and these boats are just there.

The STX design is new, it’s from everything I’ve seen more of an attempt of a step forward. As opposed to the typical gulf idea of just make it bigger. That being said I’d love to know how people like the layout of the STX boats wheel houses. Having been on a couple different boats this hitch and seeing some newer stuff the control layout can certainly be newer and meh as opposed to newer and better.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it haha. The Halter boats ride nice so I don’t mind the same design. One thing that wasn’t made bigger was the housing, 320’ and can still only hold 24 people.

The housing I wouldn’t mind as much in a straight supply boat, what’s the point otherwise ya know? My big issue with some of the boats in the oilfield is the usability of the wheelhouse. Looking over my shoulder at the radar is annoying for example, of course then you go to a newer boat and visibility and such is better but you need to stand sideways to use both hands on the controls.

I am sure they are a lot different then the center consoles and lobster boats you are used to in the Northeast .

Hey not even down the gulf and I have everything at my fingertips from the helm!

The tuna/lobster boat I run from time to time really could use a helm seat…

Second gen 280’s for some reason have everything on the center console or whatever you want to call it. Then you have the newest stuff which has the mains and rudders on a combi lever, since you’d never want to be able to run both mains with one hand and use the rudders so much at the aft station. The third gen 280’s by far had the best setup with the chairs as you pictured.

Man that looks nice! Confortable and useful!! It’s hard to put them two words in the same sentence when talking about most OSVs wheelhouses.
