# Harbor Tugs

I live in the Mobile area and recently received my TOAR endorsement from the USCG. Years ago I worked on a assist tug and more recently a ocean going tug. I’m running as a mate on a Z Drive vessel now in the Gulf of Mexico.

Does anyone know of any company’s hiring at the current moment?

The 2 main ship assist companies in Mobile are Cressent towing and Seabulk Towing. Cressent is SIU or MEBA (i think) and Seabulk is non-union or at least they weren’t when i was there. I worked for Seabulk Towing for years in Mobile and was a great job. I think Seabulk post job openings on their website by location. Either company would be good to work for. Hope this helps.

I worked for a great harbor tug company in Tampa Private company nice owners. The only problem is making money. If you can live within your means and never planning on making a big stash of money it’s ok. That’s why most of the guys there are retired or had second incomes. You also had to live within 4 hours. It’s good experience.
