Former USMMA Superintendent named TOTE, Inc. VP

AUGUST 20, 2012 – Retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Philip H. Greene, Jr., has been named vice president of TOTE, Inc. He will join TOTE, Inc. in early September 2012, leading efforts to further serve government and military accounts in the organization’s maritime, logistics and services companies.
“The addition of Admiral Greene to the TOTE, Inc. leadership team is an important step in creating a cohesive and concentrated effort in serving the government and military sector of our business. Our operating companies will benefit greatly from his experience and leadership,” said Anthony Chiarello, president and CEO of TOTE, Inc.
“I am delighted to join the professionals at TOTE, Inc. It is a great organization with a positive corporate culture that values innovation. I look forward to being part of the leadership team and contributing to the success of TOTE Inc.'s operating companies,” said Admiral Greene.
After a 32 year Navy career, in August 2010, Admiral Greene became the eleventh superintendent of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y. But, after little more than a year in the job, in a move that did not sit well with Kings Point alumni, Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood appointed him to be the Department of Transportation Chair at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. (see earlier story).
Admiral Greene, was the third Kings Point Graduate to serve as Superintendent and had earned the respect of his fellow alumni during his brief spell as superintendent. He was honored as the 2011 Alumnus of the Year by the USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation.

Good for TOTE and Saltchuk Resources…they’re a class operation all the way! That’ll be a good home for Greene and he’ll be an asset to TOTE. Win-win.

Kings Point’s loss is TOTE’s gain!
