Forbes magazine has an interesting idea for increasing U.S. Flag shipping, and shipbuilding.
Assuming President Trump does impose the massive tariffs he hascsaid hecwants to.
Frankly I would to prefer to accomplish this by legislation and not massive tax increases on U.S. consumers and industries, but here we are.
So one way to make the best of it, the the suggestion in Forbes, that if thevtariffs go into effect, they are waived or reduced for products shipped on U.S. flag bottoms.
I liked and was impressed by Malcom Forbes, but I cannot say the same for Steve.
Nonetheless, even if he is an obnoxious nerd with few accomplishments of his own, Steve Forbes is a smart guy and I often agree with him.
Reduced tariffs for goods shipped arriving on American flag ships is a great idea.
The trick would be to make sure that they are American owned, financed , insured, and flagged ships. Not foreign owned Maersk, or a bunch of other clones, ships hiding behind the American flag.
