From Marine Technology Reporter:
“Serving notice that U.S. yards can and do build workboats for the nascent North American offshore wind farm industry, Blount Boats has delivered the Atlantic Pioneer, America’s first U.S.-flagged crew transfer vessel (CTV) for Atlantic Wind Transfers. Atlantic Wind Transfers is the commercial wind support services subsidiary of Rhode Island Fast Ferry, which secured a 20-year contract from Deepwater Wind Block Island, LLC to operate the vessel for the nation’s first offshore wind farm, beginning in May 2016.”

You sir, appear to make a lot of wind (i.e. expel a lot of hot air) when judging a vessel’s performance based on a press release photo. Could it be because it was built in the U.S. and not in your “better than thou” socialist utopia?

It does APPEAR to do so when compared to this one, built in Great Yarmouth, UK. Also steaming along in good weather:

Do you regard Britain to be a “Socialist Utopia”? Well, it may APPEAR to be so in your mind, compered to your “Capitalist Heaven”.

it was a European design though?

I don’t know. I did not bring up where it was built or designed, only that on that picture it APPEARED to make a lot of waves.

“Built in the UK”, not in the IMPLIED “Socialist Utopia” of Scandinavia.
What is wrong with you guys? You see criticism where none is intended, or IMPLIED.

The mentioning of UK, ruled by the Torries for many years, was to build up to a reply to the snide remark about “Socialist Utopia”.

Am I to understand that the existence of Scandinavia, which is now also governed by right-wing Governments, are an Utopia??
UTOPIA: an imaginary place in which the government, laws, and social conditions are perfect: [http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/utopia](http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/utopia)

Imaginary; No. Last I saw, Scandinavia does exist. Perfect; depends on what you compare to, but I don’t think anybody in Scandinavia has made that claim.

My response was prompted by this previous post of yours discussing US vs Scandinavian wind farm support vessels: "Somebody will probably fit cheap port-a-camps on the back of a mud boat, add four point mooring for positioning and a few Zodiac MOB boats to transfer personnel to the various wind turbines.
VIOLA!!! You have “State-of-the-Art” Wind Farm Support Vessel for deep water operation off the North East Coast."
Excuse me if I misread this as trash talk.

That was meant as a reply to earlier comments on the new Ulstein Wind farm Support Vessels of the type that sits in the field for long periods, housing Technicians who service large wind farms situated far from shore, not the small Personnel Transfer Boats that bring the Technicians to/from shore, or from the above mentioned Support Vessels.

It was not meant as “trash talk”, but an attempt at being funny, or sarcastic, in relation to earlier posts in another thread about the difference between the Ebb Tide and the UT 704.

I’m now living in the “Socialist Utopia” of Norway, after many years in what many says is an “Eastern Utopia”; Singapore.

There are many differences in the way these two functions, but there are also similarities.
The main similarity being that both have become rich in a very short time:

Norway because of Oil and other natural resources, as well as a very fair and equalitarean society.
Singapore because of hard work, strict rules and good Governance.

You can debate which is the best way, but you cannot say that “this is a Utopia”. The proof that it can be done, one way or the other, is right here for all to see. (OK, you cannot chose if you are going to have oil and minerals in the ground)

I’m surprised ol’ Luther’s girls can build anything that floats, let alone steams along efficiently in good weather. This from the same yard that built sea-going 100-passenger/20-crew boats with very NON-watertight exterior doors 3 feet above the waterline. How have those things not been involved in a serious meteorological casualty?
