# Fire in the Engine Room of Multi-Purpose Carrier ‘Kelly’ – Final Report

The German Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation published the final report of this fire, on the Elbe River in Germany, September 6, 2019.

The fire was fueled by contaminated heat transfer oil with a very low flash point.  
The ignition source could not be determined.

blackout, then no EM gen set start and then batteries flat in 2 minutes says it all about the state of the vessel
