Faulty Bolts

Will the faulty bolts problem cause stacked boats and layoffs?

I believe its just an issue with the Hydril Stacks. So, your Schaefer-NOV-and Cameron stacks won’t be an issue. Smaller percentage. I think some of the F&G Semis use Hydril stacks.

So, to answer your question, No.

More work if anything at all.

we are doing ours right now. It won’t take long to do. Transocean has a bunch to replace.

Just did an update on this… http://gcaptain.com/us-halts-offshore-drilling-on-wells-with-faulty-bolts/

I’m not sure that having a non-Hydril stack means that you’re not using a Hydril H-4 wellhead connector to connect the stack to the wellhead. But maybe it does. anyone know?

The Bloomberg article, especially the quote from the Rowan executive made the situation (lack of readily available replacement bolts because everything is on back order) sound quite serious.

Reporters rarely get technical facts straight anyway.

This certainly sounds like an expensive charlie foxtrot for some of the drilling contractors.

All the enterprise class transocean rigs use the hydril wellhead connector. Also the 8500 series rigs from ensco as well. A friend of mine who is a sse, said turn around for his rig is 10-12 days.
