**“In May 2017, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison, had his rank reduced to captain, and had to pay $150,000 in fines.”** This case has been developing for awhile and he was sentenced in May so with time served he’s probably out by now and continuing to collect about 100K a year from the Captain’s pension. He’s probably got enough payoff money stashed away in an offshore account so that the fine is a minor inconvenience. These admirals sold out the country’s interests in exchange for booze fueled parties with hookers in fancy hotels while navigational awareness in their fleet was in such a sorry ass condition that 17 sailors’ lives were snuffed out in avoidable fiascos and they get a slap on the wrist. Is this a great country or what! ---
