They don’t want to be US (or Danish) citizens, they want to be citizens of a free and independent Greenland.
They have free education, free health care and a Nordic style welfare system (google it):

Most ships are build in China these days. Many are owned, controlled, financed and even insured by Chinese companies. So are many foreign flag ship, even many owned or controlled by US companies.

To take over Panama by military means it will take US from 15 minutes to 1 day max. Taking Panama canal now will of course mean the monetary profits and surely the prices will not go down but up.

The Nordic countries, incl. Greenland, is not like the US, with a great number of people living below the poverty line, nor being bankrupted by medical bills.
The welfare systems in the Nordic countries are being supported even by the far right wing political parties. The economic systems are very Capitalistic, but without the worst traits of Capitalism, nor with the level of crime found in the US,

US already have a large base in NE Greenland and an agreement from the early 1950s that they can establish more bases there, if they so wish.
