# Companies hiring OS?

No. He is referring to Andrie (and the entire GL industry). It’s ‘full throttle’ for 7 or 8 months then everyone gets laid off. Then you have to fight (ass kiss) to get a layup job, and then ass kiss some more for hiring preference in the spring.

The oil industry tends to be more stable versus the cement industry.

Thanks for the heads up man, i sailed up there with ASC once and was wondering what the tug and barge scene was like. Seems to be the same as the freighters. Sucks it has to be that way, called them a few months ago to see what was up with fit out and it was a serious hassle. Bummer the tug/barge scene is the same way.

I think the deckhands make about 220 a day now. Good food. Dirty factory type work. It is a deckhand job. Get it, put your time in and move up.

Hornbeck was but they want you to have your BST. I’m in the same boat. At the moment I can’t afford the BST course. and not be insured a job is not a gamble i can take at the moment.
