# Coach Richard Dykas - Cause determined in Maine Maritime Academy death

The Hancock County Sherriff’s Office says alcohol was the cause of a crash that killed 24-year-old Maine Maritime Academy Assistant Football Coach Richard Dykas in October.
Officials say Dykas’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit to be operating a motor vehicle. Police say Dykas was driving on Route 166 in Penobscot when he lost control of his car going around a curve. He died as a result of his injuries. The Sherriff’s Department says Dykas was also driving slightly above the posted speed limit at the time of the crash
