# Can you think of a low cost item that if not replaced can cause major damage?

Is zinc cathodic protection applied in different size and shapes, meaning one must have stock for each one of them?  
The reason for the question is if it can be made on board.

I’ve done it. Zinc is easy to cut.

yes you can definitely shape it and modify it but I would think most people would prefer to replace like for like… just on a ship that is not always an option…Thus Emrodu’s response that he/she has made/modified before.
