The American politics and history is one of the most fascinating topics . However if I want to get info from The Atlantic, Politico and other left leaning hubs and think tanks i go there directly . For maritime news , knowledge , experience of others , points of view and arguments my first choice is gCaptain and it’s fascinating Community. Therefore i am "FLAGGING " this post . While I don’t want to participate in another thread about DJT, discussing George Washington is cool. While most of world has a favorable opinion of him now, (_not the ones who refuse to look over that slave ownership thingy of course_), at the time of the Revolutionary War, he would have been hanged to death over the River Thames by the political elite if he was captured. But after the end of the war even some notable British subjects called him the greatest man alive. Interesting article about our founding father & the reason dirt from Virginia was shipped to London to be placed under his statue there.
