Army Corps of Engineers, major upcoming construction projects

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will host an Industry Conference on Wednesday, June 17 to discuss major upcoming construction projects with members of engineering, design, construction and project management firms. The event will be held at the New Orleans Marriott Metairie at Lakeway hotel, 3838 N. Causeway Blvd., from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Industry Day will promote an open dialogue between Corps representatives and industry leaders. The main focus of the presentation will be the requirements and demands of upcoming unrestricted construction projects, as well as expectations and goals for construction.

Representatives from Corps project management, construction and contracting branches will provide an overview of the significant contracts for the Lake Pontchartrain & Vicinity and West Bank & Vicinity projects. Subject matter experts will also be on hand to answer questions pertaining to construction contracting methods and contract durations.

When complete, the Lake Pontchartrain & Vicinity and West Bank & Vicinity projects, which are part of the greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System, will reduce impacts from a storm surge event that has a one percent chance of occurring in any given year.

All those interested in attending the conference are encouraged to register for this event at www.fbo.gov as an interested vendor. Non-registered guests will be admitted.
