Ive read a few old threads about doing a lateral move from 1600T mate to 3rd mates under policy 02-02. Does anyone know if this is still possible? I’ve spoken to a few people who say yes, but when I submitted for my 3rd’s they shot it down and said I had to re-test? My NMC evaluator also said policy 11-07 cancelled out policy 02-02 and 02-02 is no longer active and cannot be used. I have several Mariner ship mates of mine who just recently had submitted their 1600 T licenses in and was re-issued 3rd mates licenses based on their unlimited tonnage vessels, so I know it can be done. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.
