does anyone know where I can find instruction or reference to relief request policy? The relief request forms we have only state that your request SHOULD be made 60 days in advance of requested date. Well there’s about 50+ Third Mates in the pool and I find it hard to believe that I wouldn’t be able to get a relief tomorrow if I wanted. I’m curious because my purser will not allow me to submit my request prior to 60 days notice. I don’t think that’s his call? Anyone know for sure.
Purser is being dumb. You can submit relief requests the same damn day you step on the ship. I’ve done it on every ship.
