High School student interested in SUNY

Hello all,

I am a high school senior in Boca Raton, Florida. I am interested in attending SUNY Maritime to get a Deck license. upon graduation, what qualifications do you get? I have heard you get a USCG 3rd Mates License. I want to work on a ocean-going vessel. Can anyone give me advice about the school?

He asked 5 years ago. If he didn’t give up on it to do something else, he has probably graduated and may now be sailing a 3rd Mate.
