Ok, im intrested in this industry because from what ive researched its decent money (60k or so starting salary for a 3rd mate) and although you may go out to sea for some time, you also get alot of that time back at home. (ie 3 months out, 1-2 months home - 8 weeks out, 6 weeks home)
I like the idea of that..
Also i like the idea of kinda being alone. Im not sure if thats how it is...but if you work 2 4 hour watches, are you free to do as you please after? Is there alot of bosses? Do you have to deal with alot of people?
I currently have an AAS in general studies from a community college aswell as an EMT-B cert. In total i have about 78 college credits but they are scattered and mostly electives, basic classes (english, math, etc.)
I have just recently left the casino business as i coulc not stand dealing with people face to face ALL DAY LONG and the HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT aswell.
Im currently unemployed and have no other ideas besides using my CDL. And tbh id rather stare at the ocean all day than a highway...plus money seems to be better in maritime industry. am i wrong?
