Do you need to go to a maritime academt to get into the industry (3rd mate to 2nd .2nd to master…and so forth)?
Can you workout on ships? (Lift? Run? Any equipment?)?
Is there wifi on ships?
Do you share rooms or get ur own small space on a ship?
Idk…i love the beach and ocean and sea and i also have grown to prefer to be alone for the most part.

I mean how hard is it to ensure someone getting access to the forum is not THIS kind of bug? make them fill out an application describing their maritime background and why they will be an asset worthy of admission…if you need someone to be the gatekeeper, I’ll be glad to take on the job

I’ve never been able to figure if that site is for real or an elaborate hoax. Parts of it are funny as hell. Who would have enough time and patience to set up a dating site called Sea Captain just to mess with the likes of us?

Ok, im intrested in this industry because from what ive researched its decent money (60k or so starting salary for a 3rd mate) and although you may go out to sea for some time, you also get alot of that time back at home. (ie 3 months out, 1-2 months home - 8 weeks out, 6 weeks home)
I like the idea of that…
Also i like the idea of kinda being alone. Im not sure if thats how it is…but if you work 2 4 hour watches, are you free to do as you please after? Is there alot of bosses? Do you have to deal with alot of people?
I currently have an AAS in general studies from a community college aswell as an EMT-B cert. In total i have about 78 college credits but they are scattered and mostly electives, basic classes (english, math, etc.)
I have just recently left the casino business as i coulc not stand dealing with people face to face ALL DAY LONG and the HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT aswell.
Im currently unemployed and have no other ideas besides using my CDL. And tbh id rather stare at the ocean all day than a highway…plus money seems to be better in maritime industry. am i wrong?
